One of MMFT’s unique strengths is that it is grounded in science, including cutting-edge research about neuroscience, stress, and trauma. It also draws on more than thirty years of empirical research about the efficacy of mindfulness training.
We continue to validate MMFT through rigorous neuroscience research in collaboration with Dr. Amishi Jha at the University of Miami and Dr. Chris Johnson at the U.S. Naval Health Research Center. Our on-going research with U.S. Marines and U.S. Army Soldiers before deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan, funded by the U.S. government, informs curriculum development. In return, the data gathered from MMFT participants helps us to refine general scientific understanding of the mechanisms by which the training has its beneficial effects.
